Supported Employment Program
What does Keys to Advancement, Inc. do?
- “Keys” is an employment service that helps match employers’ hiring needs with qualified workers who happen to have developmental disabilities.
What is “supported employment”?
- The phrase refers to the fact that we help employers and their new employee(s) strive for employment success!
What steps are involved in supported employment, and how can I, as an employer, benefit?
*Up to $2400 for the 1st year of employment if employed for at least 400 hours.
**According to a study conducted by Robbins and Associates.
- Our Employment Specialists can TOUR your workplace and identify highly repetitive, entry-level tasks that “bog down” your skilled employees. A number of these tasks are put together to “create” a part-time position for one of our supported employees! This allows your highly skilled labor to focus more freely on their core job duties—saving both time and money for your business!
- Employers are provided information regarding Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) and can benefit from federal tax credits that can reimburse a business for up to 40% * of the new-hire’s wage!
- Employment Specialists will help train the new-hire to learn job tasks according to the employer’s specifications! This service is called “job coaching” and can be provided on a long- or short-term basis depending on the situation!
- Group sensitivity trainings about the nature of various disabilities and the Americans with Disabilities Act can be provided upon request.
- The employer lands a hard-working, motivated employee who adds character and diversity to the workplace. Statistics show that disabled employees retain their jobs for longer periods compared to the non-disabled workers, because they really want to work!**
